OK, I lied.
It turns out that we will NOT be making a run to Clevelnad this weekend. We decided to suck it up and rent a Uhaul (which is much cheeper now than it was two years ago, and it we can get it across the border, which we couldn't do two years ago as well). So we will only be making one trip, but luckily that will be one way. Also we weren't going to be closing on the house untill the 21st so we couldn't have unloaded the way we wanted to anyway. See you all in a month.

Summer has finaly arrived in Winnipeg. Just in time for us to begin the joyous task of packing, and loading, and the rest of the joy associated with a move. Why don't people move in the spring or the fall? I hereby decree that I will not move again in the summer, let it be so. please.
So Amanda and I are making our first trek east next weekend. We should be getting into cleveland some time on saturday, with the hope (again: please) that we have closed on our house so we can unload our shit, and run to Target for an airmatress, and we can sleep in the house that I have yet to see (and unfortunatly already picture with a hot tub, as I have every intention of outfitting myself with such a device, but it doesn't exist yet). But we have been having fun with the finances thanks to Amanda's job shifting and what not. Funny how her getting a better paying job has the bank worried.
In anycase, if anyone is around and wants to play we will be there through tuesda the 21st.

You know you're a lazy bastard when everyone you know is like, "Heyyyyy, so I hear Amanda got a job in Shaker," and you're like, "What? No, dude. Amanda's working at Crestwood," and they're like, "But what about what she posted to the blog?" and you realize that you're out of the loop because you haven't checked YOUR OWN WEBSITE in five days.
Congratulations, Amanda. I'm sorry I didn't post this sooner, but as you'll note above, I am a lazy bastard.
This morning I had a very misplaced sense of pride watching (John)2 Kerry/Edwards make their first public appearance together, because they were in Fox Chapel, which is like half an hour from where I grew up, and I was all "Hey, Marc, look! They're in Fox Chapel. My junior prom was in Fox Chapel!" And Marc, being the dear that he is, pretended that was terribly interesting, and didn't say "Jesus Christ on a pogo stick, woman, your life is sad and pathetic," which would have been the spectacular, awful truth.

Hello all-- this is Amanda posting, and not Nat as it would seem to be from the signature line... :)
Nat is in New York this week as his grandmother (Nana) passed away on Monday. Sudden, but not entirely unexpected, as Nana was 94 and her health had been very fragile for many years.
My news is not nearly so tragic... with me,it seems the more things stay the same, the more they change. You all had heard about my job in Crestwood schools, out near Hattie's? Well, I'm not working there anymore. Because I am working in Shaker Heights! I got an unexpected call to interview for a multiple-disabilities classroom at an elementary school and I could not resist the siren song of $8,000 more a year, better benefits, and a 6 mile commute instead of 20 miles. This was a district I didn't even think I would get into as a first year teacher... goes to show you it pays to want the classroom that no one else wants. :) I am very excited about this change but at the same time I feel like a total bum for renigging on my commitment to Crestwood. But may seasoned teachers told me I should really look out for myself in this case and not my district, so I followed their advice.
The real bummer here is that if I'd known about this a month ago, we would've been looking at houses down the street from the MWKM house.... sigh. you never know, we still might!
So. That's my news. Advance notice for those of you who keep a strict agenda-- Nat and I will be in town from July 18th -20th, dropping off as much stuff as we could carry at the new house. Extra arms appreciated. Beer will be provided.
Miss you all!
Amanda
