You Can Dress Me Up ...

After we leave the cemetery, we head out with about 40 extended family members to a local restaurant for the obligatory Post-Funeral Feed.

It’s two days before Halloween, and as we enter the restaurant and take our seats, all of us dressed in our somber clothes, I notice that our waitress is wearing a pirate costume.

There has always some synaptic glitch in my system that renders me incapable of behaving appropriately at funerals, and this was no exception.

My Brother: Sooooo, there’s a waitress dressed as a pirate here at our grandmother’s funeral.
My Mother: Yeah, it’s a little weird.
Me: (giggle, snort)
My Mother: What?
Me: Nothing.
Her: No really.
Me: It’s just that I keep expecting her to come over here and say, “We’re sarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry for your loss.”

It's always wonderful to see you post when you're not feeling tiptop. If you like, I'll come to rock city and punch your boss on the nose. i'll do it in a crowded place and he'll never know who or why someone did it, which i think will make it all the more fun...

Hey Kate, remember me from Hiram? I found you when googling Nat. Belated congrats on your wedding and more power to ya with the writing group!
Yours,
Jackie Wyse

Bill - Yes, please. I think it would be wonderful if he spent the rest of his days wondering why on earth that one time, some random Australian came up and punched him in the face. A broken nose is fairly benign, so even if he figured out who you were, the chances of extradition are rather small.

Jackie - Hey! Hi there! Of course I remember you! How are you? Where are you? Drop me an e-mail some time ... you can get my address on the "about" page of my site. Cheers.
