I can just hear the conversation that led up to this:
Advisor: Mr. President, we need someone with a solid image, someone non-partisan whom the public trusts, to guide your Supreme Court nominee through the process.
Bush: Git me that guy what plays tha' dee-yay on that thar Lawr An' Order program on the tee-vee ... uhhhh ... Arthur Branch. That's his name. Git me Arthur Branch!
Advisor: Um. Mr. President? You mean Fred Dalton Thompson?
Bush: No! Ain'tcha had yer ears cleaned? I want me that dee-yay from Lawr An' Order. Not that one from before ... that lib'ral pinko what was always eatin' a sandwich when McCoy was in his office ... I want the new one ... the one that fires them lez-bee-yinz!
Advisor (rubbing temples): Yes, Mr. President. Right away.
